Education

Over the past 27 years, SHWE has successfully established and is running 8 study centers in different parts of Uttar Pradesh. It was all made possible through the continuous efforts of the members of SHWE, the unflinching efforts of its founders and the consistent backing of donors. Our belief says that no child is weak or dull, it’s just a matter of opportunity and the right ecosystem to be able to perform and show enough confidence. Given a chance they perform beyond expectations. SHWE bridges the gap between out of school and Government school registered children. We provide a transition or a preparatory stage to parents and their out of school children. They are already low on confidence and high on finding earning excuses to support their families. SHWE steps in to ‘generate HOPE around education’; surveying, counseling, hand holding in the best way possible.

SHWE’s focus is not only to fix their educational journey but also to shape their personalities, with a single motive to ‘transform these children into productive members of society’.

Family Support

With the onset of COVID-19, SHWE became active. With the shutting down of all the Learning Centers, the admin team was converted into a ‘disaster management team’.

RATION KIT DISTRIBUTION When the whole atmosphere was scary and panicky, it was indeed a challenging task to come out of our homes and visit even our own relatives. It was indeed amazing to witness the enthusiasm amongst Students of Hamara School, who came out of their homes to serve the society. They enthusiastically volunteered in doing the survey and in delivering the timely Ration Kit door to door for around next 5-6 months of the lockdown.

The survey was done dividing the families into 4 major groups;

  • Families of daily wagers, such as; rickshaw pullers, masons, wendors ets.
  • Families with elders, ailing people, children, pregnant ladies etc.
  • Families where the bread earner is stuck somewhere else due to lockdown.
  • Families or individuals who are in need but wont come forward and ask for help due to shame or inhibition.

In search of bread and butter, parents were forced to withdraw their children from school and send them to work as unskilled laborers. The Society faced an immediate threat of dropouts in all its schools. Many parents lost hope in education and made their children work in order to repay their debts. We started addressing this problem by:

  • Doing a telephonic survey
  • Counselling programs
  • Teacher training and exchange program
  • Free door to door distribution of course books
  • Tracking and redistributing ration kits

Teacher’s Training

Teachers’ training programs have been a part of our yearly planning. We make sure to expose our teachers to new pedagogy and teaching techniques and train them to customize them to suit our students.
